Thinking about the High Country

Stone Mountain, North Carolina.

Taken in 2004 on one of my solo hikes.

Decent work on the novel today. Even on slower days the words come relatively easy. I'm itching to get out so that I can hike, but the novel takes precedence. I worked for decades to get to a point of being able to say that I was working on a novel for which I had a professional contract, so this is more important to me than exploring wilderness. But just barely.

I have to work Saturday! I only get one Saturday off every six weeks. Not this one, unfortunately. Have fun!

That is what I thought! Unfortunately, Saturday worked out better for both Rich and me. I would like to get out Sunday too, but there is just too much yard work that needs to get done!
