Music of My Youth

I liked the music from the late 70s and early 80s. I enjoyed keeping up with pop in those days. Not for decades, now. Because I'm an old man? Couldn't say.

These guys had me ready to start a revolution. Alas.

Debbie Harry: what a beauty.

I remember seeing Blondie on The Midnight Special. Debbie was wearing some weird tube top and boy was it cold in the studio...

Madness brought the Ska movement over the pond to the USA. Our House, One Step Beyond. Insane goodness!

I was really into the whole ska thing. I still miss it. Closest thing we've had in recent years was Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

I have to admit that I first paid attention to Blondie because Debbie Harry was so strikingly beautiful. But then I really got into the music. Their tunes were a lot of fun.

Bosstones had their moment, and then they went away. Too bad because they were the closest to Madness.

Yeah, it was doubly sad for me because I didn't even know about The Mighty Mighty Bosstones until they'd faded back into being a regional band again. Missed my chances to see them tour. I've been told they're still pretty active up in yer neck of the woods, which would make sense.

And, of course, Madness are out there doing work again from what I hear. And Bad Manners, too.
