Totally

I've seen some unintentionally gay comic book covers before, but this one is near the top of the heap!

"What do they want?" Indeed.

Lavender and Lace.

Any idea who the cover artist is?

If I had to guess (and I reckon I do) I'd say it's Joe Maneely, who fell out of a train and was squashed on the tracks.

It is definitely Maneely and falls somewhere in the middle of his run of covers for the Two-Gun kid.
I love his stuff and I've grown to appreciate it more and more over the years!

Oh, yeah. Whenever Maneely's name would come up with the old-timers there was nothing but praise for him. He could draw anything Lee requested of him and it was his talent and prodigious output that kept Atlas going through some tough times (from everything that I've read). The guy was bursting with talent.

I was told how DC was in the act of peeling him away from Atlas (he'd done a couple of covers for them) and that Lee was in a panic over this. I can believe it.

Is this where Jim Aparo got some of his look? The face looks like Aparo, but not the bodies. Did they work together? Tom Mandrake...over to you.

Jeez, that's friggin' sad.

Oh, yeah. The whole Joe Maneely fate is sad as hell. I have a friend who thinks he was murdered. I'd give details, but the person he thinks was the killer is still alive and would sue. Weird thing is...his theory makes complete sense.
