It was indeed amazing. The one problem (and it was a big one) is that we arrived at Glacier in the midst of one of the worst droughts in the Park's history. The fires were horrible and toward the end of the trip the wood smoke was so bad in the Park that it was hard to breathe sometimes. But we had about three days of clear weather after a snow/rain storm doused the fires for a little while. Also, the legendary Glacier Park wildlife was all in hiding--apparently retreating mainly to very high elevations to escape the fire and smoke. We only saw two bears, both of them black bears, and none of the Park's normally active moose, one mountain goat, and not much else. The only big animal that seemed to be around in decent numbers were Bighorn sheep. We had much better luck viewing wildlife in Custer State Park in South Dakota which was green and moist and got a lot of rain while we were there.
