More Monkeyshines

My wife works as a surgical tech in the maternity ward of one of the local hospitals. A few nights ago there was more excitement in the parking lot than in the delivery room. For some reason, the family of one of the expectant mothers brought their pet monkey to the hospital and left it in the car. Monkeys being pretty smart, it managed to escape from the auto. One of the hospital security guards caught it, but it bit him and got away again. It stayed overnight in the woods that line one side of the parking area. Finally, the next day a family member of the owner (her mother, I believe) coaxed it out of the forest.

Poor monkey.

I think it's back with the owners. But Carole and I were both surprised that it's legal to own a monkey of any species.

Alas.

Here's a link to the news item from the local paper.

The actual dangerous monkey who bit the security guard.

Ditto. Poor monkey. How sad.

Very. I had thought owning monkeys or apes was illegal. Apparently not.
