TALES TO ASTONISH #2

This is the earliest issue I have of Tales to Astonish. The cover is by Ditko, but most of the rest of the crew who would become the mainstay of the early days of Marvel are not present here. Ditko has no interiors in this issue, Kirby is missing, with only Don Heck present and accounted for in the book.

It's possible that Kirby may have done some layouts in the book--a few panels seem to bear the stamp of his style, but I'm not sure. One of the stories has so many styles and variations that it could be a tag-team story by several artists, or someone was swiping from many sources to get the yarn delivered in time for the deadline. This is the kind of mystery for a comic book mavin to answer.

This cover has an intriguing premise.

So does he successfully capture the Martian and if so, how does he do it?
