L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Scientology cult. And Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormon cult.
I never thought Hubbard was serious about his religion. I think he made up scientology as a satire of Judeo-Christianity. He was out to prove that people can just make stuff up and get a following. That all religion is fiction.
Joseph Smith made up his religion as an excuse to have a modern day harem. I think he was ingenius.
