Past Photos, Another Visit
We'll be heading up to one of our favorite outdoor adventure areas very soon. Southwest Virginia is packed to sky with great places to see and wonderful activities in which to take part. The highest peaks in the state are there, and the concentration of waterfalls and tributaries are hard to count. We'll ride the Virginia Creeper Trail and camp in a National Forest campground. I hope to bag a few peaks and see some new waterfalls. Plus, if the weather cooperates, we'll go kayaking on the New River.

If you have small children who can ride bicycles you're a terrible parent for not taking your young ones down the Virginia Creeper Trail. Rent some bikes and ride all the way down the mountain to the ice cream shop. We did this seven years ago and my 16-year-old son still brings it up from time to time as one of his fondest memories of being a little boy.
The last three photos in that tower are from that bike ride. I always tell people who are out of shape that even they can do that ride. Down hill all the way except for that one level stretch in the canyon. And that's easy as pie.
Took my son on a mountain bike ride in Canaan Valley. It was about 3 miles long, but a great experience we shared.
It's always fun. Well...unless it's freezing rain.
