Yellowstone and Grand Tetons
I'm starting to get serious about plotting my days in these parks. We won't have a lot of time in the Grand Tetons so I'll likely only have one full day to hike somewhere spectacular into the back country of that park. I've been asking other people online about possibilities of hitting some peaks, but most of them are either beyond my skill level or beyond a full day's hike. So I'm pretty sure I'm going to hike to Amphitheater Lake and Surprise Lake and do some scrambling on the heights above them as far as I feel comfortable with slopes and time.

It is very unlikely that you will be able to bag any of the Tetons! But you will still have an awesome expierience! You just can not grasp the magnitude of these mountains until you see them in person!
Since I wrote this I've been convinced that I can easily bag "Paintbrush Peak" which is an 11K+ foot peak that stands in the foreground of the Grand Teton when viewed from Jackson Hole. It will involve an all-day hike, but I may never get back there for a few years, so I'm committed to doing that one. I'm told the views from the summit are spectacular and it's easy Class II to the summit.
