The problem is, I'm just getting old. Didn't sleep well and was just too exhausted to get up at 5 a.m. to begin a five-hour round trip of driving to be able to hike for five hours.
The old man was just too whipped for the task at hand.
Alas!
The last time I went waterfall wandering around Wilson Creek. |
Sometimes you just need your goddamned sleep. I've been humbled by that reality more than once recently. Rest up. That mountain's not going anywhere.
ReplyDeleteYes. But even a year or two ago I would still have been off and away. I sat there on the edge of the bed for a second and thought about the long drive there, then back in the same day...and suddenly all I wanted to do was go back to sleep. Which I did.
ReplyDeleteIsn't there a nice place near where you live you could hike?
ReplyDeleteI live in Augusta, Georgia and know of at least 3 pretty wild places less than an hour's drive from my house where I could take a nice hike.
There are some cool places where I can hike that are nearby. My problem is that I'm sick of them. One of my fallback hiking destinations is Crowder Mountain State Park which is pretty cool. But I've hiked every mile of trail in there several times over in all seasons.
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple of nature preserves around that I haven't hiked...so I'm going to give those a look next time I don't want to drive two or three hours.
