Wild Maryland

We traveled a few miles north into Maryland today to check out a couple of state parks there. I was really surprised at some of the stuff we found. More later. For now, a video and a couple of photos:

Swallow Falls State Park. The highest waterfall in Maryland.

This park has a patch of virgin hemlock/white pine forest. 300+ years old.

The place was packed with waterfalls. Four major falls.

Once again, if not for my Yaktrax, I'd have had to cancel the hike.

  1. Wow! Looks like some nice waterfalls! I'll have to check that out sometime. I used to drive past the sign on I-68 about 10 times a year and never stopped! And it is only about 5 miles off the interstate
