Jews 'n' Quakers

My grandparents, circa 1910. Grandfather Kurtz was around this time a Vaudeville performer. He was a singing acrobat. Yep. Sounds strange. The only singing acrobat I've ever heard of. Solid muscle, he was one tough Jew. I've been searching for scraps of information about his act for years, with no success. My mom used to tell me he was the opening act a few times for Houdini.

My mother's father and mother. Grandmother Kurtz (formerly Clifford), through whom I am directly related to John Greenleaf Whittier, noted American poet, abolitionist, and Quaker.
