I'm Stuck with Them!

Argh!

For several months I've been trying to unload my Eddie Campbell books. Most of them are trades, with some that meet the definition of "graphic novel". First, I tried selling them to a local used bookstore, but they didn't want them. "No market for this," they told me. Okey-doke, I said.

Then I tried putting them on Ebay. Someone named 'Cerebunny' bid on them, but never paid. I think the high bid for the stack was $5.00. (Not only does Dave Sim totally suck chimp ass, but so, apparently, do his fans.) Oy, I groaned.

After that I took a huge stack of graphic novels from my collection that I'd read and had no intention of ever reading again and put them on my table at a local comic convention. One of the stacks was really tall and included all of my Eddie Campbell stuff. People came by and bought lots of them. I did well. But none of the Eddie Campbell books moved. Alas!, I wailed.

Finally, toward the end of the show, a dealer came to my table and examined the stack. "How much for everything?" he asked. I quoted him a very fair price. (Hurrah! Finally! Rid of them!) The dealer said "Hm. Let me see." And then he went through the stack, taking out some books and leaving others in. "I can't sell these," he told me. "How much for what's left?" He bought "the ones (he) could sell" and walked away. I still have all of my Eddie Campbell books. C'est la vie, says I.

Oh, well. Wine makes me puke anyway.

  1. I really wanted to like From Hell, the Alan Moore/Eddie Campbell maxi-series...alas, I just couldn't do it. Campbell's style for that that series was to scritch-scratchy for me and the story was way to dense for my liking.

  2. I do rather like the work in FROM HELL. More than anything I've ever read before, FROM HELL transported the reader through time. The density of the details was critical for this. FROM HELL was one of the projects that stays in my collection by choice.

But I know what you mean...

  3. HA! This is "Cerebunny". I got thrown in jail for a couple months right after I bid. Finding this gave me great joy, and no, I am not bullshitting you. If you still want my five bucks, post another comment and we'll work something out.

I do totally suck ass, though, no argument on that one.

This is "Cerebunny", I got thrown in jail for a couple months after bidding on those funny books. Finding this made me very happy, if you still want my five bucks, just re-comment or whatever and we can work something out. I had to sign up for google just to comment here, but I had to do it, this is great.

I do suck ass, too. You'll get no argument here.
